Improve Your Effectiveness By Analyzing Your Network

Social networking seems to be a hot topic, but have you taken a close look at your networks? I recently went to a program on the importance of analyzing your strategic networking. Using information from author Lin Coughlin, here's a list of knowledge networks within your contact list. Improve your networking by reviewing this list and analyzing your connections:

Work Network - Individuals with whom you exchange information as part of your daily work routine

Social Network - Individuals with whom you check in to find out what's going on

Innovation Network - Individuals with whom you collaborate to kick around new ideas

Expert Knowledge Network - Individuals that you turn to for expertise or advice

Career Guidance or Strategic Network - Individuals with whom you go to for advice about the future

Learning Network - Individuals with whom you work to improve existing processes or methods

Decision-Making Network - Individuals with whom you go in order to get decisions made expeditiously
